Greetings from Tanglewood Golf Club! I hope the summer is treating you well.
June Activities
June was a tremendous month to play the game we love. At Tanglewood, we saw an increase in rounds played in June 2008, compared to June 2007. I would attribute this to be the condition of our course – thanks to our Superintendent Dean!
I feel quite comfortable in saying that our conditions are the best in the region and that includes the private clubs!!!
We thank everyone who played Tanglewood in July and the staff looks forward to serving you in July and the rest of the summer.
June Contest
We had four winners for our June Contest of a free round of golf with cart. The lucky winners are:
W. Foster from Wilmington, DE
Karen Reynolds from Lancaster County
Ronald Lantz from Quarryville, PA
Chris Enderle from Wilmington, DE
If you haven’t received your certificate via e-mail, please let me know so we can make sure that you enjoy your contest prize.
July Contest
Since we’re in the heart of the season you’re probably noticing several things you need to work on to improve your game. So, for July’s Par the Course Contest, we’re going to be giving away a golf lesson a week from mid-July to mid-August. So, four lucky golfers will be able to improve their game by winning a free lesson with our Tanglewood Pro – Rich Carr – at Tanglewood. Don’t miss this chance to improve your game by e-mailing richcarr1@comcast.net and see if you’ll be a lucky winner. You only have to enter once to be in the drawing every week. Good luck!
Summer Events
We had some great events in June that were well attended. We had over 200 players on the Tanglewood/Titleist Day and a whopping 38 teams for our inaugural Father-Son/Daughter Day.
Our Junior Program is rolling along with about 20 junior golfers every Tuesday. On a recent Tuesday, Don McVey, our head mechanic, made homemade ice cream for the kids and parents (it sure was gooooood.) Thanks, Don.
The Junior Program is every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and is conducted at our practice center. It’s not too late for your junior golfer to join us! The clinics cost $5 per golfer and provide basic instruction and lostsa fun.
We are holding a Jack and Jill event on July 19, 2008 with a 2:00 p.m. shotgun. Each team is comprised of a male and female golfer. This event is not limited to husbands and wives. If you don’t have a partner, please email me at richcarr1@comcast.net and I will find a partner for you. (No, we are not a dating service, but there are lots of people who want to play who may not have a golfing partner.) Call today to sign up for the event.
